Whoa! That was quite hard work. Felt like my knees had rusted up overnight. After a couple of miles they loostened up, must have been the rest day yesterday allowing them to get a bit rusty?

Got the big 15 miler tomorrow. I want to be out quite early if possible so it doesn’t consume too much of my Sunday off. Over two hours of running is not only physically challenging but also mentally as the mind can get very bored. Certainly going to take the iPod Shuffle with me on this run.

3.98 mile run, 34′17″, 8′37″ avg pace, 223 kcal, ahr 154 bpm, mhr 187 bpm.

Gah! My heart rate monitor stopped working at some point during my run this evening; either that or my heart stopped for thirty minutes o_O so I’ve got no calorie, average or max heart rate stats.

7.53 mile run, 1h 07′10″, 8′56″ avg pace, — kcal, ahr — bpm, mhr — bpm.

Not on–call so back to “real” running instead of the elliptical trainer :)

Runners’ World Tuesday schedule this week is hill work, 1M jog warm up, 9 x 2min uphill with jogs back down and ending with a 1M warm down jog.

Apart from feeling a bit of a muppet running up and down the road for 30–odd minutes, this session went quite well, if a little boring.

5.49 mile run, 50′55″, 9′15″ avg pace, 490 kcal, ahr 147 bpm, mhr 184 bpm.

13 miles on the elliptical trainer*, 1h08′12″, 630 kcal, ahr 142 bpm, mhr 156 bpm.

If I could actually run 13 miles in just over an hour then I wouldn’t be a million miles from WR marathon pace. Unfortunately, the elliptical trainer just over-estimates mileage :( but at least I’ve done over an hour of decent exercise, keeping me on course for next week’s 34+ miles.
