First run in my new Nimbus 11s. Mmm, really nice and I got back home without any blisters or sore toes.
I’ve found with most running shoes, problems don’t usually show up until you’ve done some longer runs in them, say 8+ miles, that’s when you find out just how comfortable a pair of running shoes is.
Tomorrow, Friday is a rest day, then I have 4M Saturday and a fast, 5M or 6.25M (10K) Sunday which I’m supposed to aim to run in under 40 or 50 mins respectively! I’m going to give it my best shot but it’s a big ask given my typical average pace over this distance is 8’40″–ish. Obviously, 5 miles in 40 minutes or 6.25 miles in 50 minutes is 8 minute/mile pace *gulp*
No long runs this week but next week’s Sunday run is an 11–miler so the distances are starting to ramp up now. The furthest I’ve ever run is 13.1 miles (half–marathon) so I think in a couple of weeks my training runs might take me past that o_O
4.32 mile run, 39′02″, 9′02″ avg pace, 449 kcal, ahr 155 bpm, mhr 171 bpm.
Ran 4 x 800m “speed” legs with 200m jog recoveries. It was difficult to keep an accurate “speed” pace due to inclines, road crossings and uneven footpaths but I was aiming for an average speed for each of the 800m legs of around 7’50″/mile. Unfortunately, in all the excitement ;) I forgot to press the lap time button on my watch at the beginning and end of each leg. Meh.
